Christian Family Ministries of Coleman County

Loaves and Fishes was started in December 1986 by a small group of locals. It was called “The Soup Kitchen.” Volunteers prepared hot meals to be served dine-in or taken to shut–ins and people who lacked transportation. In 1990 MHMR leased the building where we are now. They allowed use of the east end for the hot meals program and the pantry. In 1999 MHMR moved to their new location and Loaves & Fishes moved their ministries into the entire building. Graham Bevel was appointed Administrator for Loaves & Fishes in 1993 and served until August 2001.

In 2002 the Board of the Coleman County Ministerial Association appointed Leta Gaither as the new Administrator. In 2006 the Coleman Ministerial Association chose to relinquish their controlling position, and incorporated the Christian Family Ministries of Coleman County. The Board of Directors consists of both clergy and lay persons. In September of 2010, Mrs. Gaither retired and the board appointed Geneva Harris as the new Director. Vicki Cook was recruited to serve as Asst. Director. In 2013 Geneva stepped down, and Vicki took over as Director of the organization. Vicki has a wonderful Board assisting her with planning and decision-making.
